The Newburgh Armory Unity Center’s Excelsior Academy Computer Science Program is dedicated to expanding access to computer science and increasing participation by students in our community – many of whom are underrepresented in technology fields.

In the after-school computer science program young coders will explore the core concepts of computer science, including programming, software development, robotics, physical computing, digital citizenship, and problem solving. Coders will have the opportunity to create their first program and apply this knowledge to explore the world of robotics. Coders will then continue their exploration in the world of physical computing where they will be introduced to electronics, build interactive systems using hardware and software and have the opportunity to develop mobile applications.

Students will become equipped with the leadership skills necessary to implement and share their expertise with others. The skills gained will benefit these students throughout their educational and professional careers.
